A 28.8K dial-up is the very minimum connection capability, but in practice, a constant connection speed better than 56K is highly desirable. Many dial-up connections are quite reliable, but some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will disconnect you if activity is not detected within a certain time limit. This may pose problems to you if, for example, you are simply studying a graph. Check with your ISP for details about their connection policies.
