Understanding the Data Columns

Last
The price of the most recently executed transaction. Last often toggles between the Bid and the Ask but may be at any price.

The difference between the Last price and the Close price.

"1" indicates a non-marginable cash purchase;
"2" indicates that the purchase was made in a margin account;
"3" indicates a short sale;
"S" indicates a straddle.

Number of shares held for long positions, or sold for short positions.

Total Cost
The total cost of purchasing the security.
P&L/Share
Amount of profit or loss generated by a single share of the stock.
P&L%
Percentage of profit or loss generated by the stock held.

Trade from the Positions Window

  1. Right-click a stock in your Positions window. Select Close Out Selected from the pop-up list. To close out of all positions, select Close Out All from the pop-up list.
  2. An "Order Verification” window will appear. Review your order and click ”Submit” to send your order.

Other ways to trade include:

  1. Dragging and dropping a symbol onto the Market Depth Window and completing the Order Entry Bar,
  2. Adding an Order Entry Form to the Portfolio window, (See "Customize Your Portfolio" for details.) and
  3. Using the Trade Strategies window to create a trading strategy.

Change the Average Price

The "Average Price” is the average price paid for stock you hold. Average Price can be calculated different ways, so if you wish to change this price, you may do so, but please note that you do so at your own risk. Stock holdings which are acquired on the same day are figured on a "first in, first out” basis. Stock holdings that are acquired over time are figured with a straight average.

Right-click on the stock and choose Change Average Price from the pop-up list. Click ”Yes” after reading the disclaimer. Enter the new price information and click "Apply.”
