Customize Charts
Any chart can be customized easily by right-clicking on the body of the window.
If you customize this tool and wish to preserve the changes for future sessions, you must select Save Layout from the File drop-down menu before exiting the platform.
Customize the Chart Settings
- Right-click on the Charts window and select Properties.
- The Properties window will appear. Click the Settings tab.

- Select a Starting Date for your charts.
- Select a Range for your chart data.
For Intraday charts (less than 10 days) click the Intraday button and set the Days Back and Interval.
For Historical Charts (one month or more), click the Historical button and set the Date Period and the Data Type.
- Set Intelligent Filtering.
Intelligent Filtering: From time to time, bad prints are included in chart data, which can skew the chart. Intelligent Filtering minimizes the effects of bad prints by clipping them, thereby preserving the integrity of your chart.
Filter Sensitivity: Determines the degree to which bad prints are clipped. Sensitivity settings range from 1 to 50.
Always Filter Last Interval: Assures that the Sensitivity setting you chose will be applied to the most current bar of data.
- Choose any of the following options:
Full View: Shows all requested chart data in the space provided. If left unchecked, the data is optimized to viewing details. To see more of your chart, use the scroll bars below the chart, or click and drag your curser right or left to reveal hidden data.
Y on Right: Moves the Y-axis of the chart from right to left.
Horizontal Grid Line: Turns the chart's horizontal grid lines on.
Vertical Grid Line: Turns the chart's vertical grid lines on.
Use SNAP for Fibonacci: Makes the anchor points used in Fibonacci studies "snap" to the nearest piece of chart data. If unchecked, anchor points appear exactly where you place them.
Chart Dropdown: Adds and removes the Chart options drop-downs such as the chart type and day/time settings.
- Set Vertical Scaling options.
Min/Max Scaling: Autosizes the vertical chart axis based on the range of chart data requested.
Custom Y-axis: Restricts the vertical chart axis to the range specified.
- Click Save Vertical Scaling On Symbol Change to preserve your vertical settings for all chart symbols.
- Set Horizontal Scaling to control Candlestick width.
Snap To Window: Autosizes the candlestick size to accomodate the data requested.
Fixed: Restricts the candle width to the number of pixels specified.
- Click OK to apply your changes.

Customize Colors Using the Properties Window
- Right-click in the body of the window.
- Select Properties from the drop-down menu, and click the Color tab.

- Select an element from the Color menu. Move the sliders to alter the color of the selected element; or click the Color Picker and select a color from the pallet provided. The new color will appear in the Current Color box.
- To make the new color the "default" color for the window, click the Save as New Default Color button. The new color will appear in the Default Color box. To revert to the default color, click the Reset to Default Color.
- Click OK to save.
Customize Fonts Using the Properties Window
- Right-click in the body of the window.
- Select Properties from the drop-down menu, and click the Fonts tab.

- Select an element from the Font menu. Click the Font Picker and select a color from the pallet provided. The new color will appear in the Current Color box.
- To make the new font the "default" font for the window, click the Save as New Default Font button. To revert to the previous default font, click the Reset to Default Font .
- Click OK to save.
Trade from the Charts Window
- Click the Order Entry button
on the Charts Tool Bar (or double-click on the chart). An Order Entry Bar will attach to the bottom of the chart, if one is not already present.
- Complete an order and submit it by clicking on the appropriate action button.
Other Chart Customization Options
- Right-click in the body of the Chart.

- Select one of the following options from the drop-down menu:
Title Bar -- Hide or show the blue "Charts" title bar.
Clone Window -- Creates a duplicate Charts window.
Links -- Links (and unlinks) Market Depth Window, Charts, and Board view.
Change Data -- Right-click on a data bar and select this option to physically alter the data represented on the chart. This can be useful for minimizing the effects of bad prints.
Hide Data -- Right-click on a data bar and select this option to remove the data bar from the chart.
Unhide Data -- Right-click on the chart and select this option to add hidden data bars back into the chart.
Quick Alerts -- Set a visual alert based on stock price parameters you set.
Add Note -- Click to add a note to your chart.
Add Trend Line -- Click, then draw lines between two or more high points or low points to identify price support. To remove, right-click on the chart, and select "Add Trend Line" again.
Cross Hair Tool -- Click, then move your curser over the chart and click to reveal time and price information. Click and drag from one unit of time to another to retrieve the VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price) for that time span.
Fibonacci Studies -- Select a study from the drop-down list, then click and drag a line between two extreme points on the chart to display a Fibonacci Study. To remove, right-click on the chart, and select "Remove All" from the Fibonacci Studies drop-down menu.
Price Lines -- Select "Hi," "Low," "Open," "PrevClose" or "Stop" from the drop-down menu to automatically draw price lines or select "Custom" to draw your own price line. To remove, right-click on the chart, and select "Remove HLOC" from the Price Lines drop-down menu.
Zooming In -- Click and drag a box over any area you wish to enlarge. To return to full view, right-click on the chart, and select click "Zooming In" again.
Order Entry Templates -- Click one of the options provide to expand or compress the Order Entry Bar.
Order Entry Properties-- Controls the default settings for the Order Entry Templates. (See details below.)
Floating Window -- Detaches (or reattaches) the Board View window from the software and floats it over currently running applications.
Display Order Entry Bar -- Adds an Order Entry Bar to the bottom of the Board View window.
Display Toolbar -- Click this button to keep the Tool Bar continually visible. Unclick to return to default settings.
Swap Lower Studies -- When two studies have been added to the bottom of the chart, click this option to switch their order.
Properties -- Controls the content and appearance of the Chart. Select custom colors, font size, and face for the Chart.
Customize Order Entry Properties (for this tool only)
You now have the ability to preference specific order types based on the exchange in which a security is listed. To customize these preferences:
- Right mouse click on the window and select "Order Entry Properties" from the drop-down list.
- Click the radio button "Use Defaults Below". This will allow for advanced customization.
- Select one or more exchanges to customize.
- Once the exchange is selected, the order entry properties may be defined including Asset Type, Trade Size, Order Type, Route, TIF, and more. Fields may be customized based on any number of scenarios. You are not required to define each field.
- Click the "Save Defaults for New Order Entry" if you would like these defaults to apply to all new trading-enabled windows you open. All currently opened windows will retain their current settings, but all new windows will adopt the defaults defined here.
- Select "OK" to finalize the process and begin using the new defaults. Or select "Cancel" to exit without saving.
